Captens was approached by a brand that operates in the landscaping niche.

The brand offers over 1,300 products across 100+ categories, with eight categories generating 85%+ sales.

Stuffing multiple ASINS per campaign made it difficult for them to rank on new and relevant keywords.

Captens tackled all these and more challenges…

and boosted their growth by 110% in just three months while maintaining minimum TACoS.

Challenges Faced

The brand faced the following challenges that required immediate attention and strategic solutions:

  1. Sales Concentration Dilemma: The brand’s 1,300 products across 100+ categories saw 85%+ sales generated by only eight categories. This over-reliance on a limited product mix hindered growth opportunities and increased risk.
  2. Plummeting Search Volume: A 35%-40% decline in search volume for top keywords compared to the previous year impacted the brand’s online visibility and sales performance.
  3. ASIN Grouping Requirements: To optimize ad campaigns, the brand faced the challenge of grouping at least 20 similar ASINs per campaign, requiring careful selection and analysis.
  4. FBM Challenges: FBM listings made ranking on new and relevant keywords difficult, reducing the brand’s competitive presence in marketplaces and affecting sales growth.

Plan of Action

Captens developed a comprehensive plan to tackle the challenges and enhance growth for the brand, focusing on four key strategies:

  1. Prioritization of ASINs & Campaigns: Captens analyzed ASINs based on their previous performance (Sales, TACOS & CVR) and market potential for growth, selecting the top 10 ASINs to focus on initially. This prioritization strategy was then applied to the brand’s 350+ running campaigns.
  2. Finalization of New Keywords for Ranking: Utilizing Search Term Reports, Captens identified top-performing search terms across different match types in Auto & Manual campaigns. They also employed SQP & BA data to pinpoint high potential keywords with low competition, CPC, and those where the brand was already ranking on the first page.
  3. Closing Non-Performing Targets & Advertised Products: To improve the overall performance of ongoing campaigns, Captens closed non-performing advertised products and established a conversion metric for each ASIN, ensuring better tracking and optimization.
  4. Making Full Use of Sponsored Brands: Captens boosted sponsored brand campaigns, despite imperfect images, by targeting high intent, long-tail shop keywords in Sponsored Brands Video and browse keywords in Sponsored Brands Video using phrase & broad modifier. They also employed Headline Ads to upsell customers and improve the overall marketing strategy.

In addition to these strategies, Captens conducted extensive testing of various ad types, placements, and bidding strategies to optimize marketing campaigns for the brand.

Results We Brought

  1. Boosted Revenue by 110%: Captens implemented data-driven marketing strategies, optimizing ad spend and targeting, resulting in a significant revenue increase within a short timeframe.
  2. Maintained TACOS between 9.94%-11.21%:By closely monitoring and adjusting campaigns, Captens ensured cost efficiency, keeping Total Advertising Cost of Sale within a manageable range.
  3. Significant Growth with Sponsored Brands: Captens leveraged Sponsored Brand campaigns, targeting high-intent keywords and employing Headline Ads, driving substantial growth for the brand.
  4. Improved Performance by Prioritization: Strategically prioritized top-performing ASINs and campaigns, enhancing overall performance.
  5. Boosted Campaign Performance: Identified and eliminated underperforming targets and products, streamlining campaigns and increasing ROI.
